Thursday and Friday this week sees the ETIS Billing and Revenue Management Group meeting in Dublin. Hosted this time by Openet, we are looking forward to continuing some of the lively debate that this group generates.
Last time, there was a deep discussion about whether customers want bills, which turned into several articles, many comments and some friendly disagreement about whether customers just want to look at their bank statement, shrug and carry on with their lives – unless there is a discrepancy, in which case there should be an easy, one-click way of checking the data.
This time we will have a presentation about ‘whether the bill has anything to do with the customer relationship,’ based on a recent survey.
We will also hear case studies of billing transformations and be discussing the various, and best, ways of undertaking these huge and risky projects. Just recently there has been a trend towards ‘starting again,’ with a ‘greenfield’ site. This meeting will be an opportunity to discuss where this approach works.
Also on the agenda will be a presentation on one of the new low margin, high volume opportunities for telcos – Carrier Billing.
Benchmarking takes up a lot of the agenda, with a presentation based on years of experience benchmarking the billing process, as well as the results of a benchmarking survey carried out over the last few weeks. Attendees will hear and discuss the results of ‘the percentage of incoming calls that relate to billing and payments;’ ‘the average number of days from billing cut off date to distribution or display of invoices’ and ‘the percentage of invoices that are paid on time.’ If you would like to take part in the survey – even if you cannot attend – we will share the results with you. You can take the survey here.
There is also a focus on Revenue Assurance, whether it is more or less important than it was two years’ ago, how it has evolved and what the real potential of ‘assurance’ is for telcos.
The two days look set to be the place for vigorous debate, insight and practical examples and ideas that you can take home and put to use.
The agenda is here. If you would like to attend, contact ETIS here.
