Big data, big distraction

Big data is a dangerous, faith-based ideology. It’s fuelled by hubris, it’s ignorant of history, and it’s trashing decades of progress in social justice.

That’s the rather controversial opening shot in an article that appeared in ZD Net. It goes on to warn that the big data bubble will eventually burst primarily because privacy laws will limit the use of personal data. And it is personal data and its many uses that determine the value of so many companies today.
