According to a new report the world of business is not ready for wearables. Even though nearly half of respondents to the global ISACA survey said that their companies are ready to address the IoT market next year, over half said their BYOD policy does not cover wearable technology. Around a quarter still do not have a BYOD policy in place.
Although a survey of ‘wearables’ into the workplace might raise a smile or two, it seems that IT professionals take these things very seriously. 81 percent of the respondents agreed that BYOW (the ‘w’ as you would imagine is ‘wearables’) was riskier than BYOD.
Meanwhile, the survey has some useful overall information on the wonderful world of IoT. Nearly half believe that the benefits of IoT outweigh the risks for individuals while about a third say the risks outweigh the benefits for enterprises. Half think IoT opportunities bring security risks with them.
So, while we get everything connected, do not bring the Fitbit to work.
